One Temporary fellow position is available in the Unit of Luisa Lanfrancone (https://www.research.ieo.it/research-and-technology/principal-investigators/modeling-and-targeting-metastatic-cancer) at the Department of Experimental Oncology, IEO, Milan.
The Unit is primarily interested in identifying and characterizing cellular pathways governing the biology of melanoma, which can be eventually targeted pharmacologically. A close collaboration has been established between Dr. Lanfrancone and Prof Baldelli Bombelli at the Politecnico di Milano to develop a new multifunctional nanomedicine to target and eradicate melanoma lesions.
The central hypothesis of this project is that biocompatible nanoparticles can overcome current limitations in drug delivery by enabling the safe administration of higher doses and the effective combination of previously challenging therapeutic agents.
This is a nine months fellowship position, with the possibility of renewal. Salary is based on professional experience.
The laboratory of Dr. Lanfrancone is located in the Department of Experimental Oncology of the European Institute of Oncology (https://www.ieo.it), a Comprehensive Cancer Center based on state-of-the-art research laboratories and clinical facilities, fully equipped, relying on dedicated and trained personnel (https://www.research.ieo.it).
Required requisites of the candidate:
- Master in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Oncology, Genetics, Pharmacology, Molecular Medicine, Chemistry or relative disciplines (Candidates must have a degree or in the process of obtaining it; the qualification must be obtained before the signing of the contract which is expected to be activated by April 15th)
- Good/excellent knowledge of the English language;
- Strong background in chemistry;
- Good knowledge of nanomedicine
- Experience in nanoparticle synthesis and characterization
- Committed to independently take responsibility over the project, being reliable and precise;
- Basic computational skills and experience in drug testing can be useful.
