A full-time microscopist and image analyst position is immediately available at the Imaging Unit of the Department of Experimental Oncology (DEO) at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO, Milan).
The role will focus on providing support for microscopy and image acquisitions, as well as advanced image analysis by designing workflows and pipelines using a variety of open-source and commercial tools. The selected candidate will work closely with Imaging Unit staff and DEO scientists.
The Imaging Unit at DEO (https://www.research.ieo.it/research-and-technology/technological-units/imaging-unit/) is equipped with state-of-the-art resources including wide-field and confocal, high content and time-lapse microscopy, super resolution microscopy. DEO (https://www.research.ieo.it/) is the research wing of IEO and is focused on the deep understanding of cancer-associated molecular mechanisms, with ~400 scientists and 26 PIs with complementary expertise in the fields of cancer biology, immunology/immunotherapy, omic sciences, cell signalling, cancer models, structural biology and computational biology.
Requirements:
- Programming skills (e.g., Python), good experience in using image processing and analysis software for optical microscopy and digital pathology (e.g. ImageJ/Fiji, QuPath, ArivisPro, NIS elements, Huygens Software, HaLo). Strong background in light microscopy
- Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Biomedical Engineering or a related field
- Previous research experience related to light microscopy is highly desirable
- Helpful, professional, goal oriented and well-organized personality, good communication skills to discuss with biology collaborators about project aims and results
- Fluency in English
Offer:
The successful candidate will be offered an initial one-year contract, renewable. The salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience.
