Postdoctoral and Doctoral Work Opportunities in Cutting-Edge Genomics Research on the Control of non-coding transcription in the Gioacchino Natoli lab at the IEO-IFOM Campus, Milan
(https://www.research.ieo.it/research-and-technology/principal-investigators/gioacchino-natoli/)
We are seeking Postdoctoral Fellows and PhD Students to join our research team at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) in Milan on an ambitious project investigating the mechanisms that restrain the activity ofextragenic RNA Polymerase II, leveraging advanced genomics screening technologies.
About the Project. Our research aims to deepen the understanding of non-coding transcription regulation, a rapidly evolving area with profound implications for gene expression, genome stability, and cellular function.
Using advanced genomics tools and innovative methodologies, this project will:
-Identify and characterize molecular pathways that selectively control extragenic RNA Polymerase II activity.
-Elucidate the role of the recently identified Restrictor complex in modulating non-coding transcription.
-Determine the functional and pathogenic consequence of deregulated extragenic transcription
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and inventive individuals to fill the following roles:
-3 wet-lab Postdoctoral Fellows (highly competitive salaries commensurate with acquired skills and experience)
Key responsibilities:
-Design and perform advanced genomics screens.
-Design and carry out functional experiments to uncover executioners of transcription termination at extragenic sites
Qualifications:
- PhD in molecular biology, genomics, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Experience in screening and next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies
-3 PhD Students (to be enrolled in the SEMM PhD program, www.semm.it)
Key responsibilities:
-Conduct experimental functional genomics screen under expert mentorship.
-Participate in collaborative projects within an interdisciplinary team.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Enthusiasm for genomics research and a willingness to learn advanced techniques.
Deadline for Application: 15 February 2025
How to Apply: Please send your CV, a cover letter outlining your research interests, and contact information for two/three references familiar with your previous work to Gioacchino Natoli: [email protected]
