Postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Biology of Glioblastomas and Brain Metastases and Potential Therapeutic Targets Unit

A postdoctoral fellowship is available at the European Institute of Oncology, in the laboratory of Biology of Glioblastomas and Brain Metastases and Potential Therapeutic Targets Unit, headed by Prof. Giuliana Pelicci.

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher who will be involved in a liquid biopsy-based project research for the exploitation of plasma extracellular vesicles (EVs) as biomarker of glioblastoma presence and response to treatment. The project is supported through an EraPerMed grant in tight collaboration with European partners to promote excellence and research strategies.

Particular interest will be focused on the clinical relevance of EV concentration as well as EV molecular cargo which could be both helpful in diagnosis, prognosis, and precision medicine therapy by providing information about the molecular trait of the parental tumor.

The candidate should have a solid background in cancer and molecular biology, expertise in managing human biological samples (blood, serum/plasma, cell cuture), DNA/RNA extraction from human samples, PCR, ddPCR, Sanger sequencing and Next generation sequencing, library preparations.

Previous experiences in DNA and RNA sequencing, variant/mutation detection and validation, knowledge of mutation databases are considered a plus.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to acquire and develop new skills for EVs isolation and EVs cargo characterization. She/he will have the opportunity to work closely within a wide network of basic research and clinical collaborators. Teamwork attitude and organizational skills are needed.
