The Laboratory of Oncohematology, coordinated by Prof. Enrico Derenzini, MD, at the Department of Experimental Oncology (DEO) of the European Institute of Oncology (IEO), is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher.
Our research group operates at the interface between clinical and basic/translational research, aiming to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying difficult-to-treat hematological malignancies and to develop novel pharmacological treatments and immunotherapy strategies. Our primary objective is to rapidly translate preclinical discoveries into precision-therapy clinical trials and identify biomarkers predictive of treatment response.
Our main research focuses on:
- Identifying specific vulnerabilities in chemoresistant lymphomas and leukemias to develop novel synthetic lethality-based therapies, with a focus on MYC, BCL-2, MCL-1, and DNA repair mechanisms.
- Developing innovative strategies to enhance the efficacy of current immunotherapies, including CAR-T cells, dendritic cell vaccination, and NK-cell therapy.
The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with both clinical and basic researchers and will actively contribute to the lab’s key projects.
Required qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, or related fields.
- PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Oncology, Genetics, Pharmacology, Molecular Medicine, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a biomedical research environment.
- Proficiency in cellular and molecular biology techniques.
- Experience with in vivo experiments using murine models (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong sense of responsibility, precision, and independence in research activities.
Additional desirable qualities:
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- High level of motivation, reliability, and precision.
- A collaborative and open-minded approach to teamwork.
This is a one-year fellowship, with the possibility of renewal. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
