PATIENT-SPECIFIC DISEASE MODELLING FOR TRANSLATIONAL ONCOLOGY

The European Institute of Oncology invites applications for a technician position to join the High Definition Disease Modelling Lab to work on highly innovative projects that investigate cancer-associated molecular dysregulation in primary patient-derived tumor 3D models. The focus is on tumor paradigms that constitute major unmet medical needs, including ovarian cancer and thymoma, integrating uniquely informative cohorts of primary patients’ samples with novel computational approaches that combine epigenetics, transcriptomics and clinical phenotyping (Lo Riso et al. Genome Medicine 2020). A pivotal point of our effort is organoid-based cancer modelling  (Campinoti et al. Nature Communications 2020, Velletri et al. Cell Death and Differentiation 2022;), at single cell multi-omic resolution, combining cutting-edge techniques, such as CUT&tag, single cell RNA-sequencing and spatial transcriptomics.  The successful applicant will be part of a highly active team of scientists and is expected to have knowledges in molecular and cell biology, including culture of primary tumor samples in both 2D and 3D, preparation of libraries for high-throughput sequencing, and learn/apply a broad range of cutting-edge methods to assist in laboratory practice.

Place of employment and work: The European Institute of Oncology is one of Europe’s leading research institutes in biomedical research. It offers attractive salaries and benefits, an exceptional English-speaking research environment and cutting-edge technological platforms. It is located in the heart of Milan, a vibrant cosmopolitan city.

Requirements:Undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or Biomedicine-related areas, with a proven track record of  previous technical experience and reliability, and the motivation to join a highly interactive, international team at the cutting edge of epigenetics, disease modelling and cancer biology (Coughlan et al., International Journal of Cancer2021; Lo Riso et al. Genome Medicine 2020; Campinoti et al. Nature Communications 2020; : Signaroldi et al., Nature Communications 2016; Germain et al., Nucleic Acids Research 2016).

The operating language of the lab is English.
