Head of the Genomics Unit (Ref 2024-07-DPT/60)

The Department of Experimental Oncology at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic technologist to coordinate our Genomics Unit. For more information, please visit our Technological Units page.

 

The Genomics Unit. The Genomics Unit is an integral part of our Department, providing access to a range of genomic technologies and platforms, including Illumina sequencing, single-cell platforms, and long-read sequencing. Additionally, the unit collaborates on research and technology development activities within the department.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating closely with research groups to plan experiments, communicate results, and provide analytical support.
  • Introducing, training, and supervising users in sample preparation and experimental design.
  • Setting up new technologies and optimizing existing ones.
  • Operating and maintaining Unit equipment.

 

Applicants must hold an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field, and have documented expertise in genomics techniques, including routine operation and troubleshooting of NGS instruments. The Head of the Genomics Unit is expected to (co)supervise PhD students and post-docs and to develop independent technological research activities.
