In the past 20 years since DEO foundation, many scientists have started their career and matured professionally in the department. This has created a large community of scientists that, even though are now working in different institutes in the world, keep pleasant memories and a strong tie with their experience in IEO. In 2018, DEO organized the first Alumni meeting, where 50 ex-PhD students, post-doctoral fellows and Group Leaders of IEO, now Principal Investigators or Institute Directors worldwide, met and renewed their pleasure to interact and discuss science.
